Summer Lead/Assistant Counselor

The Summer Lead/Assistant Counselor is responsible for planning leading and implementing (or assisting with) programming and experiences for children (ages 15 months to 5 years) in a classroom may include crafts nature songs games circle time water play and activities etc.

Essential Responsibilities for all counselors

Identify and respond to participant behavior issues.
Ensure that the classroom and outdoor areas are kept clean organized and free of litter.
Communicate with director about participants experiences and report concerns toProgram Leadership.
Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports and daily attendance.
Know enforce and follow all safety guidelines and emergency procedures associated with theprogram and all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your class participants safety and their whereabouts at all times.

Qualifications

Lead counselors must have a high school diploma and experience as a classroom teacher/working with children.
Assistant counselors must be at least 16 years old and have some prior experience with children (e.g. babysitting summer camp school internship).
Qualifications required of all counselors:
- Completion of First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to lead plan organize and implement program activities.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Must have the physical ability to lead and participate inprogram activities which include but are not limited to hiking team building initiatives physical games and activities.

Dates are: June 15-August 21 (specific weeks based on enrollment)

Counselor Hours : Monday - Friday 8:30am-3:30pm
