Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.
Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. This temporary position is located at 2 S. Salisbury Street in Raleigh NC - Wake County with the Secretary of State.
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $55.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

Senior Database Administrator
The North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State (NCSOS) is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to support ongoing data quality and system optimization initiatives. This role is responsible for leading data cleansing efforts enhancing table structures and designing and maintaining data relationships to ensure data integrity consistency and performance.
The selected candidate will evaluate existing database environments identify inconsistencies or redundancies normalize schemas and implement best practices in relational database design. Strong SQL expertise analytical thinking and attention to detail are essential for success in this position.
This role requires effective collaboration with development and IT teams to strengthen overall data reliability and support organizational objectives. Candidates who are committed to maintaining high standards of data governance and performance are encouraged to apply.
This position will be based in the Raleigh North Carolina area and is expected to work on-site and/or in a hybrid capacity in accordance with agency policies.
This is a temporary position with an anticipated duration of up to two (2) years. This position is a temporary assignment administered through OSHR Temporary Solutions. Temporary Solutions employees are subject to assignment duration limits and required break-in-service periods. Individuals who have completed a Temporary Solutions assignment and reached the maximum duration must have a minimum 31-day consecutive calendar break before beginning another Temporary Solutions assignment.

Bachelors degree in computer science or an IT related field or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive experience in programming and applications analysis including the design and maintenance of an integrated database system; or Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of progressive experience in programming and applications analysis including the design and maintenance of an integrated database system; or High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and seven years of relevant experience in programming and applications analysis including the design and maintenance of an integrated database system; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
