Job Summary

Western Digital is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Quality Engineer to support and enhance our quality systems across the product lifecycle. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of reliability performance and customer satisfaction.

You will partner cross-functionally with engineering manufacturing and business teams to drive continuous improvement strengthen quality processes and support compliance with global standards.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Planning & Systems

  • Develop implement and maintain quality assurance plans inspection procedures and documentation

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001 and internal quality frameworks

  • Support the continuous evolution of quality management systems

Auditing & Compliance

  • Conduct internal audits to assess process adherence and identify improvement opportunities

  • Support external audits including supplier and customer audits

  • Drive corrective and preventive actions based on audit findings

Quality Reporting & Analytics

  • Define track and analyze key quality performance indicators (KPIs)

  • Prepare and present reports to management with actionable insights

  • Leverage data to identify trends root causes and improvement opportunities

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with R&D Manufacturing Supply Chain and Sales teams

  • Ensure quality is embedded throughout the entire product lifecyclefrom design through production and delivery

  • Act as a key interface between technical and business stakeholders

Process Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor production processes and identify defects or deviations

  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using structured methodologies


Qualifications :

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Industrial Engineering or a related technical field

Experience

  • Proven experience in quality assurance or quality engineering ideally in a manufacturing or industrial environment

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies including:

    • FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)

    • Six Sigma / Lean methodologies

    • SPC (Statistical Process Control)

    • 8D problem-solving process

  • Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • High attention to detail and process discipline

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional global teams

Languages

  • Business fluency in German and English (written and spoken)
