Position Summary:

The Project Coordinator in the Translational Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience (T-SCAN) Lab at Rice University will be responsible for collecting and coordinating data related to research protocols. The Project Coordinator will work closely with the PI Dr. Bryan Denny the Senior Project Coordinator and other project staff in the daily coordination of lab studies. The position will coordinate participant visits and associated activities oversee the preparation of study materials and manage participant files to ensure that confidential information is secured. They will also assist with IRB submissions and related documents and administer the emotion regulation intervention sessions. The position will be trained to assist in the collection of fMRI data as well.

This is a one-year term-limited position with the possibility of extension based on need and available funding.

This position is funded by a grant soft and/or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of funding.

Hiring Salary: $21.15 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience
    • In lieu of the experience requirement additional related education above and beyond what is required may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis

Skills:

  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and proprietary databases

Preferences:

  • Bachelors degree or currently pursuing a Bachelors degree
  • Experience working in a psychology laboratory or related field and/or research experience
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains laboratory supplies and equipment to ensure availability cleanliness and easy access
  • Coordinates study visits and associated activities to ensure they are conducted properly including scheduling reminder calls and processing participant compensation/reimbursement requests
  • Oversees the preparation and maintenance of study materials and individual participant files
  • Interacts with and takes direction from the PI Lab Manager and Senior Project Coordinator to ensure all protocols are followed
  • Assists with IRB submissions for annual continuing reviews and amendments to study protocols
  • Administers emotion regulation intervention sessions with participants alongside the Senior Project Coordinator and volunteer research assistants; trains and supervises volunteer research assistants
  • Collaborates with the MRI technologist to assist with the collection of fMRI data; all fMRI data will be collected by a minimum of two people: a trained technologist and a trained experimenter from the study team
  • Performs specific research techniques as required
  • Maintains database
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
