Plan implement evaluate and manage differentiated curriculum and instructional strategies to address the individual needs of students enrolled in the special education program in the school setting.
Primary Responsibilities
- Case manage student individual education programs (IEP) to meet specialized needs of students with disabilities
- Coordinates special education documentation regarding the special education process including referral evaluation IEP development and implementation and related processes in compliance with district state and federal requirements including timelines
- Implements specialized instruction based upon the needs of the students
- Participates in IEP meeting and communicates with parents on a routine basis keeping them informed of their childs progress in compliance with district procedures
- Maintains student special education records and related information as outlined in district comprehensive plan/procedures and in a confidential manner
- Creates instructional resources for use in the classroom
- Plans prepares and delivers instructional activities
- Creates a positive educational climate for students to learn
- Meets individual and school-wide student performance goals
- Creates lesson plans and modifies accordingly throughout the year
- Maintains grade books and completes report cards
- Grades papers and performs other administrative duties as needed
- Reads and stays abreast of current topics in education.

- Utilizes various curriculum resources
- Integrates competencies goals and objectives into lesson plans
- Utilizes curricula that reflect the diverse educational cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the students served
- Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activities
- Prepares and distributes required special education paperwork
- Observes and evaluates students performance
- Manages student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or building principal
