Directs the registration charge capture/CDM billing collections cash posting and customer service functions for the organization. Responsible for performance improvement initiatives in order to maximize reimbursement. Responsible for identifying opportunities to streamline processes that directly impact accuracy efficiency and integrity of patient billing and collections including registration charge capture coding documentation and claims processing. Works collaboratively with directors and managers from all areas of the organization to define objectives create improvement plans and monitors progress. Works with the Director Managed Care to ensure payer compliance with negotiated contracts.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Works collaboratively with other departments to improve revenue cycle process.

  • Meet with revenue producing departments to identify and resolve chargecapture issues.
  • Provide departments with tools/reports to assist in identifying charge issues.
  • Lead integrated revenue cycle efforts to promote positive outcomes andfoster a team approach to revenue cycle success.
  • Assist in developing standard reports to facilitate monitoring of revised procedures.

Oversees registration and business office functions.

  • Monitors accuracy and timelines of billing and registration functions.
  • Meets regularly with management team to address areas of concern.
  • Meets regularly with staff to assure open lines of communication.

Provides management with critical reports to aid in decision making and reporting.

  • Develops and maintains systems and reports to supply data on electronic billing payer trends productivity AR aging denials and cash collections.
  • Reports to senior management team on revenue cycle enhancements.

Oversees financial counselor functions.

  • Establishes financial protocols to execute financial policies for patient accounts.
  • Provides management with monitoring reports.
  • Maintains high satisfaction score on patient surveys.
  • Assures pre-authorization issues are addressed with physicians and other departments to minimize claim denials.

Provides financial management.

  • Motivates staff to reach monthly financial goals.
  • Ensures all registration and billing systems are up to date and functional.
  • Maintains budget and manages budget for each area of responsibility.
  • Oversees charge master.
  • Establishes collaborative relationships with Finance and other appropriate departments to assist in achievement of financial goals.
  • Ensures all business systems of the department are up-to-date and functional.
  • Develops and utilizes a strong knowledge of the budget process.
  • Manages the budget appropriately on a regular basis.

Participates in hospital QA program.

  • Develops and maintains relevant QA indicators.
  • Provides timely reports to the Compliance Officer.

Provides direction to personnel function.

  • Proactively manages employee issues such as staffing workers compensation modified/light duty ADA etc.
  • Addresses performance problems in a timely manner.
  • Evaluations are timely.
  • Evaluations are thorough.
  • Proactively seeks to resolve personnel issues within the department.
  • Screens interviews and selects professional and clerical staff.


Qualifications

Educational / Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in accounting finance business administration or other related field. Five to eight years related experience two to three years of which are in a supervisory capacity.

State/Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements:

None

Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements:

General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Other programs as mandated by Hospital.

Special Requirements:

Computer skills knowledge of UB-04 billing requirements as well as pertinent Federal State and local billing requirements.

Physical Requirements:

Extended sitting together with occasional bending reaching and stooping.

Work Environment:

Normal office conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation. May include customer contact and telephone use.

Cognitive Requirements:

Analytical/problem solving skills excellent verbal written communication
