Job Summary
Role Overview
This role focuses on customer-symptom-driven root cause analysis for infotainment and connectivity systems. The engineer will investigate field issues reproduce failures analyze logs and drive structured problem-solving to identify and validate root causes.
Key Responsibilities 1. Customer-Symptom Driven Investigation (GIM Focus)- Analyze customer verbatims and translate into technical failure modes
- Support Red & Yellow GIM investigations
- Group issues based on customer symptoms to identify systemic causes
- Correlate warranty claims with fleet data
- Provide technical clarity in escalation/warroom discussions
- Reproduce issues on:
- Production vehicles
- Internal fleet vehicles
- Bench / HIL / VHIL setups
- Validate:
- Software version/build
- Vehicle configuration & variant coding
- Perform vehicle instrumentation and data capture
- Capture and analyze:
- CAN / LIN / Ethernet traces
- Infotainment application logs
- Bluetooth Wi-Fi cellular logs
- Crash logs and boot events
- Ensure traceability:
- Software versions
- Release timelines
- Vehicle architecture
- Correlate:
- Warranty claims
- Fleet complaints
- Returned parts data
- Identify cross-program patterns
- Analyze returned infotainment/connectivity ECUs
- Extract logs and validate software/configuration
- Perform hardware inspection & electrical validation
- Compare failed vs known-good units
- Coordinate with suppliers for deeper analysis
- Identify root cause type:
- Hardware
- Software
- Integration/configuration
- Environmental/usage
- Apply methodologies:
- 8D
- 5-Why
- Fault Tree Analysis
- Develop hypothesis-driven investigation plans
- Validate root cause with reproducible evidence
- Define corrective actions and validation criteria
- Ensure proper closure before GIM completion
- Work in high-pressure warroom environments
- Prioritize based on customer impact & warranty risk
- Provide concise technical summaries for leadership
- Identify risks of recurrence (pre/post SOP)
- Strong knowledge of infotainment & connectivity systems
- Experience with:
- CAN LIN Automotive Ethernet
- UDS diagnostics
- Understanding of OTA updates & flashing
- Strong log analysis across multiple domains
- Ability to correlate large datasets
- Comfortable with incomplete/ambiguous data
- Strong analytical mindset
- Vehicle instrumentation & debugging
- Bench / HIL / VHIL testing
- ECU log extraction
- Electrical diagnostics
- Experience with:
