System Support Administrator

Position Summary

The System Support Administrator (Junior) supports the administration maintenance and reliability of the organizations core IT infrastructure. This role works under the guidance of System Administrators and Infrastructure leadership to perform day-to-day operational tasks monitor system health and assist with infrastructure changes. The position is execution-focused follows established standards and procedures and provides a clear development path toward a full System Administrator role.

Key Responsibilities

Assist System Administrators with the administration and maintenance of Windows Server Active Directory and related infrastructure services

Perform routine system monitoring health checks and maintenance tasks in accordance with documented procedures

Support user account management group policies permissions and access requests

Assist with server provisioning patching upgrades and decommissioning activities

Support backup recovery and disaster recovery processes under established plans

Monitor alerts and logs; troubleshoot infrastructure issues and escalate complex problems as appropriate

Assist with virtualization and cloud environments (VMware Hyper-V Azure) under supervision

Document procedures configurations and changes to support operational consistency

Partner with Help Desk and Support teams to resolve escalated infrastructure-related issues

Follow change management and security practices when performing system updates and maintenance

Required Skills & Qualifications

13 years of experience in IT infrastructure support systems support or a related technical role

Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and basic Windows Server administration

Foundational understanding of Active Directory user/group management and permissions

Basic understanding of networking concepts (DNS DHCP TCP/IP)

Familiarity with virtualization and/or cloud platforms (VMware Azure or AWS)

Ability to follow documented procedures and troubleshoot issues methodically

Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn advanced infrastructure concepts

Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to PowerShell or other scripting languages

Entry-level certifications (Microsoft Fundamentals CompTIA Network or similar)

Experience supporting hybrid or cloud-based environments
