Whats the role
Youll play a pivotal role in shaping Westpacs future in digital payments and transaction banking. As Head of Digital Assets within our Institutional Bank youll set the strategic direction for how digital assets tokenisation and emerging payment models are applied across the organisation and lead that strategy through to delivery.
Based in Sydney or Melbourne this full-time executive role sits within Global Transaction Services and gives you enterprise-wide accountability for identifying opportunities prioritising initiatives and building a credible compliant digital asset capability. Youll translate strategy into clear platform roadmaps lead a portfolio of initiatives from concept through to scaled delivery and ensure strong governance investment discipline and executive decision-making throughout.
Youll work closely with technology risk legal compliance and financial crime teams to ensure innovation is balanced with regulatory credibility. Youll also engage senior leaders across the Group and represent Westpac externally with industry partners market infrastructure providers and regulators. This is a role for a leader whos comfortable operating in complexity influencing at the highest levels and turning emerging ideas into real customer and business outcomes.
What do I need
Youll bring senior leadership capability strategic judgement and a practical approach to delivering change in regulated environments.
- Extensive experience in financial services particularly within institutional banking transaction banking payments and platform strategy and delivery.
- Deep expertise in payments and institutional transaction services with strong insight into payment modernisation and digital asset models including tokenisation.
- Strong understanding of distributed ledger (blockchain) technologies and their application within regulated financial services environments.
- Awareness of regulatory legal operational and financial crime risks associated with payments and digital asset initiatives.
- Proven capability in setting strategy and leading complex transformation and delivery portfolios in highly regulated environments partnering closely with technology teams.
- Demonstrated experience working within enterprise governance and investment prioritisation frameworks including collaboration with external vendors market infrastructure participants and industry bodies.
