Overview
This position is responsible for application of engineering principles to research and develop various medical devices under the direction of an Engineer. This position is a 12-week paid internship located at MED Institute in West Lafayette Indiana. It is offered for a period extending from mid-May through mid-August (exact dates depend on school calendars.) This position includes 401(k) options and an assigned mentor. Working onsite you will also have access to a fitness center and a one-time housing stipend. All internships provide hands-on experience with meaningful projects in the Medical Device Industry.
Responsibilities
- Interact with Engineers to plan complete and report results of experiments tests prototype development literature surveys etc.
- Provide support to other team members upon request and where reasonable.
- Ask questions and learn about client expectations while driving towardscientific excellence.
- Work with engineers to define tasks.
- Follow procedures pertinent to tasks being performed.
- Ensure that appropriate documentation is kept detailing project history (reports laboratory notebooks invention disclosures scientific literature meeting notes deliverables etc.)
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a BS (or advanced degree) program in engineering engineering technology engineering science or equivalent experience.
- Conscientious person with good work ethic.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to plan prioritize and coordinate the completion of deliverables and tasks.
- Teachable positive attitude with a genuine willingness to learn and to help.
- Ability to effectively communicate and constructively collaborate with colleagues.
- Personal discipline.
- Ability to work with multiple persons and the multiple priorities that occur when each person has different needs.
- Ability to remain professional and positive in all personal interactions
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. MED Institute does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H-1B or TN) for this employment position.
