Job Summary
Position Summary
This is a full-time 12-month position that assists the head football coach in implementing a competitive NCAA Division II football program. The Gannon University Football Team competes at the NCAA Division II level and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference ( PSAC ). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : 1. Coaches and directs all aspects of the defense. 2. Develops effective practice plans and scouts opponents. 3. Scouts and recruits qualified competitive student-athletes while maintaining a commitment to their academic success. 4. Coordinates and schedules strength training and conditioning for player development. 5. Promotes healthy orientation of student-athletes. 6. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of and accountability to NCAA rules and regulations. 7. Demonstrates a commitment to the academic and athletic success of the student-athletes and NCAA compliance with the highest of ethical standards 8. Performs other duties related as assigned within the scope and responsibility and requirements of the job.
Physical Demands
Must be able to meet the physical demands associated with recruiting and coaching a college-level football team.
Required Qualifications
Education: A bachelors degree required; a masters degree is desirable. Experience: Applicants must have three years of college coaching experience along with collegiate-level recruiting experience. Applicants must possess effective communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population. Licenses and Certifications: A valid drivers license with no restrictions is required. University Mission: Must be able to support and promote the Universitys Mission.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience as a defensive coordinator at the collegiate level preferred.
