The Need
For over 25 years IJM has pioneered the workto protectvulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade IJMs Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% forvery largepopulations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence we are seeking Communications Interns & Fellows.
InternationalJustice Mission has a powerful story totell toa world that is both overwhelmed by and under-informed about the reality of everyday violence against the poor.We have an opportunity to show a global audience that justice for the poor is possible.The Communications Interns and Fellows support IJM Headquarters and national staffguidehow the organization talks about IJMs work around the world by sourcing and developing compelling content from IJMs field offices.Depending on your level of experience your role may involve some of the following responsibilities as well as other relevant duties assigned by the Field Office Director or Supervisor.
Identifyand develop stories and news items on IJM programs for HQ materials such as: News from the Field IJM Justice Briefings Quarterly Reports web updates fundraising pieces PowerPointpresentationsand IJMspeeches;
Check facts and use research skills to help put IJM work into regional and globalcontext;
Maintaina filecontainingarticles in newspapers and internet ofinterest;
Conduct field research andwriteissue-focused stories to highlight IJMswork;
Researchcompileand analyze information of use for the officein the area ofcommunications;
Arrange interviews andestablishcontacts with entities civilservantsand social/media operatorsetc.;
Develop documents based on studiessurveysand interviews of informationsubjects;
Serve as an internal entrepreneurial reporter to capture the stories and news items that describe the work ofIJM;
Draft press releases aftersignificant eventsfor local media; and
Create andmaintainpressreleaselistwith local and national newspapers and magazines.
Positions maybe available in:Accra Ghana; Bucharest Romania; Lima Peru; Guatemala City Guatemala;Kuala Lumpur Malaysia; Jakarta Indonesia; Bangkok Thailand; Manila Philippines.Not every position will be available in every office.
Program duration is 12 months fromJanuary 2027 December 2027.
Internship General Qualifications and Required Skills
Bachelorsdegree;
Organizational and administrativeskills;
Attention todetail;
Knowledge of Microsoft software and Windows strongly preferred; and
Fluency in Spanishfor Latin America offices.
Fellowship General Qualifications and Required Skills
Three or more years of relevant professional experience and/or a graduate degree;
Prior work experience in CommunicationsMediaor PublicRelations;
Knowledge of Windows Microsoft Word Outlook PowerPoint andWindows XP;
Experience networking with International and National NGOs CBOs faith-based communities and local government; and
Fluency in Spanishfor Latin America offices.

As volunteers interns and fellows receive a monthly stipend to help defray their expenses related toparticipatingin the internship program. This volunteer stipend is not an hourly wage nor wages paid for services provided by the intern or fellow.

*What is a statement of faith
A statement of faith should describe your Christian faith and how you see it as relevant to your involvement with IJM.The statement can either be incorporated into the cover letter orsubmittedas a separate document and should include at a minimum a description of your spiritual disciplines (prayer study etc.) and your current fellowship or place of worship.
