The Multimedia Specialist leads the creation and production of visual content thatsupports Boston Universitys Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine programsresearch and community. This role is primarily focused on photography (70%) with additional responsibility for videography (30%). This work appears across the schoolswebsites publications and digital channels.
This position plays a key role in shaping the schools visual storytelling. A major responsibilityincludes producing photography for the biannual Boston University MedicineMagazine including cover images and feature stories. The role also supports ongoingneeds such as professional portraits headshots and event coverage across departments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Capture high-quality photography for editorial storytelling
- Lead photography for major publications including a twice-yearly magazine
- Produce and edit video content to support storytelling and institutional initiatives
- Manage projects from planning through final production including editing and post-production
- Maintain equipment and oversee lighting and audio setup as needed
The ideal candidate is an inquisitive self-directed visual storyteller who is comfortable takinginitiative and working in a variety of settings. A background in photojournalism ormultimedia journalism is strongly preferred especially experience in editorial or newsroomenvironments.
This role requires creativity flexibility and strong instincts behind the camera. The person in this position should be comfortable working independently thinking on their feet and capturing moments as they unfold.
Required Skills
- Bachelors degree in photojournalism multimedia journalism or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in photography and video production
- Strong portfolio demonstrating experience with portrait and editorial photography
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and Lightroom along with video editing tools such as Premiere Pro or Final Cut
- Experience working with lighting and audio equipment
- Familiarity with WordPress; basic HTML knowledge is a plus
