Position Overview

This position is accountable for reviewing construction lettings and plans to gather design details and construction records for mechanistically designed pavement test sections and entering the data into themechanistic database for tracking maintenance models used in life-cycle cost addition this positionis accountable for reviewing performance data to ensure records are complete and are properly added to theperformance report. This position is accountable for aiding with field surveys and pavement design analyses tosupport the Pavement Design Sub-unit in completing its roadway research and pavement management needs.

Essential Functions

  • Reviews construction lettings to identify pavement projects that fill gaps in the matrix of mechanisticcross-sections to ensure a comprehensive look at pavement performance.
  • Gathers project cross-section details traffic counts and other pertinent information to provide a completeproject record in the mechanistic database.
  • Assists unit staff with collecting traffic cross-section and pay item information for reviewing life-cyclecosts analyses and pavement designs.
  • Assesses dataset of mechanistic projects to confirm data is valid and complete.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conduciveto the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology pre-engineering or a job relatedtechnical/science curriculum PLUS five years of engineering experience; OR seven years of
    engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience reading roadway and bridge construction plans.
  • Ability to maintain professional and harmonious relationships.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires a valid drivers license.
  • Requires successful completion of a background screening.
  • Requires limited statewide travel and occasional out-of-state travel with overnight stays.
