The Camp Aspen Snowmass (CAS) Counselor helps create unforgettable experiences for campers in a stunning mountain environment. As a Camp Counselor you will lead both private and group programs guiding children through exciting outdoor activities while fostering confidence curiosity and a deep love for nature. This position reports to the Director of Childrens Programs.

Essential Job Functions / Key Job Responsibilities
- Lead campers in a variety of outdoor adventures ensuring a fun safe and engaging experience
- Plan and facilitate age-appropriate hands-on activities that encourage exploration creativity and teamwork
- Work collaboratively with fellow counselors to foster a supportive and energetic camp atmosphere
- Maintain awareness of each childs location and well-being throughout the day
- Monitor and support camper health and safety including administering basic first aid when necessary
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding camper experiences and progress
- Participate in camp-wide events and special programs to enhance the sense of community and camper engagement
- Assist with camper check-in and check-out procedures to ensure smooth transitions and clear communication with parents/guardians
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
Education & Experience Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- At least one year of experience coaching teaching or working with children in a recreational setting required
- Experience leading on-mountain activities (mountain boarding climbing fishing hiking etc.) preferred
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Strong ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work independently when needed
- Capable of managing a small group of campers in an outdoor environment while ensuring their safety and maintaining an engaging environment
- Demonstrates patience empathy and the ability to work with children in a variety of settings
- Comfortable participating in physically demanding outdoor activities and maintaining a high level of energy throughout the day
- Flexibility to adjust to changing circumstances weather and camper needs
Additional Information :
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Ability to reach crouch kneel stand bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time
- Regularly work in wet cold hot conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
- Must be able to frequently lift push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position but no more than 50)
