About You
Role OverviewThermoteknix is seeking a motivated Legal Associate to support the companys legal contractual regulatory and compliance activities. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership engineering teams and commercial departments to ensure legal risks are managed while enabling business growth in global markets.
The role involves drafting and reviewing contracts supporting regulatory compliance (including data protection) and assisting with intellectual property and corporate governance matters.
Key ResponsibilitiesContract Management- Draft review and negotiate commercial agreements including:
- Supply agreements
- Distribution agreements
- NDAs and confidentiality agreements
- Licensing agreements
- Service and consultancy agreements
- Support contract lifecycle management and maintain contract records
HR Legal Support- Provide legal support to the HR function on employment law matters including:
- Drafting and reviewing employment contracts
- HR policies
- Advising on employee relations disciplinary and grievance procedures
Regulatory & Compliance- Assist in maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations including:
- Data protection and privacy (e.g. GDPR)
- Export control regulations
- Corporate governance requirements
- Support internal compliance programs and policy development
Intellectual Property Support- Assist with management of company intellectual property portfolio including:
- Patents
- Trademarks
- Trade secrets
- Work with external counsel on filings and protection strategies
External Legal Counsel Coordination- Act as the primary point of contact for external legal counsel
- Coordinate legal advice documentation and information requests between internal teams and external law firms
Legal Risk Management- Provide legal advice to internal teams on contractual and operational issues
- Identify legal risks and propose practical mitigation strategies
- Support dispute resolution and litigation management if required
Corporate Legal Support- Assist with corporate documentation including:
- Board resolutions
- Corporate filings
- Governance documentation
- Maintain legal records and documentation
Cross-Functional Collaboration- Work with engineering sales procurement and finance teams
- Provide practical legal guidance for business operations
Required Skills & QualificationsEducation- Law degree (LLB or equivalent)
- Qualified solicitor or equivalent preferred (UK or relevant jurisdiction)
Experience- 5 years experience in
- Commercial law
- Technology or manufacturing sector preferred
- Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
- Strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills
- Excellent legal research and analytical abilities
- Understanding of technology and engineering environments
- Knowledge of data protection and compliance frameworks
- Ability to explain legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Desirable Skills & Experience- Experience with technology defence or advanced engineering companies
- Knowledge of export controls and international trade regulations
- Familiarity with intellectual property law
- Experience working with international distributors and partners
