What will you do
In this role you will build genuine culturally safe relationships with Indigenous participants supporting them to overcome both vocational and non-vocational barriers and move toward meaningful employment. You will achieve success in this by:
- Building strong respectful relationships with participants recognising that trust is earned over time
- Providing tailored coaching and support that develops long-term capability not just short-term outcomes
- Identifying and addressing barriers such as housing instability justice involvement health and personal circumstances
- Navigate sensitive or challenging conversations while maintaining trust
- Understanding the unique needs strengths and aspirations of each participant
- Collaborating with community stakeholders and internal teams to provide holistic support
- Working closely with employers to create meaningful and sustainable employment opportunities
- Achieve sustainable employment through building capability with our participants
Who are you
We are looking for someone who is highly relational adaptable and committed to making a genuine difference. You will bring skills and experience including:
- Proven ability to build trust with individuals who may be disengaged from services
- Experience working with people facing complex barriers (e.g. justice system involvement trauma housing instability or long-term unemployment)
- Strong cultural awareness and/or experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- The ability to adapt your communication style to suit different individuals and cultural contexts
- Resilience patience and the ability to work in an environment where progress is not always linear
