JOB SUMMARY
Ottawa Public Library (OPL) provides accessible innovative library and information services throughout the City of Ottawa that meet the unique needs of diverse communities delivered through a range of vehicles and reflecting a citizen-centred approach.
You are responsible for participating in the planning process for Ottawa Public Library technology services; leading technology initiatives that drive innovation and transformation within the library system; enhancing services and addressing the evolving technology needs and responsibilities include managing technology projects from inception to completion collaborating with stakeholders to identify needs effectively resolving conflicts to maintain project momentum and staying updated on advancements in automation and enterprise systems to inform strategic decisions and support Library management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
4 year degree in business administration public administration commerce computer science or related field
Minimum of 5 years of related experience in business technology planning and evaluation project management performance measurement and system analysis
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES
KNOWLEDGE
- In-depth understanding of provincial and municipal legislation affecting public libraries
- Understanding online research methodologies and digital tools enabling efficient information retrieval and data analysis to support library initiatives
- Statistical analysis including forecasting techniques
- Computer systems applications and software especially those relevant to data manipulation
- Project management and research techniques and practices
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation including the rights and duties of workers.
COMPETENCIES SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Able to utilize technology for strategic and operational planning employing project management frameworks like Agile and Scrum to enhance project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficient in integrating enterprise systems that streamline library operations
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and recommend course of action following completion of various research projects
- Analyze data and forecast trends
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders including the ability to work with technical terms and concepts and translating to working level
- Possess organizational skills and flexibility to plan initiate organize and prioritize own work and to deal effectively with multiple demands conflicting priorities pressures and deadlines
- Able to identify and assess problems and to use analytic and problem solving skills
- Lead by example demonstrating integrity creativity and enthusiasm in achieving results
- Support and promote the corporate vision
