PURPOSE OF JOB: Provided leadership for the schools entire athletic wrestling program through the ongoing development implementation and improvement of specific sport coached.
What Youll Be Doing: (Responsibilities)
Instruction & Coaching
- Assist the head coach with instructing students in the rules regulations equipment and techniques of the sport.
- Help organize and schedule regular practice sessions aimed at developing each student-athletes fullest potential.
- Emphasize safety precautions and remain knowledgeable about best practices in training and injury management.
Program Coordination & Operations
- Assist in the coordination and overall management of the athletic program.
- Help provide information regarding transportation facilities officials and game management needs.
- Aid in ensuring the systematic return of all school equipment in alignment with the KCPS Athletic Department Handbook.
Student Supervision & Conduct
- Assist in supervising students during practices competitions and related activities.
- Conduct both team and self in an ethical professional manner during all events.
- Model and uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship at all times.
Compliance & Professional Standards
- Assist in implementing athletic standards outlined in the MSHSAA Handbook.
- Attend all required MSHSAA sessions and meetings.
- Successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Course.
- Complete 8 hours of required professional development:
- District-level meetings: 4 hours
- School-level meetings: 3 hours
- Outside meetings/clinics: 1 hour
Professional Growth
- Continue developing professionally through clinics workshops and relevant publications.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Student-Athletes and Assistant wrestling coaches
To Be Successful at This Job Youll Need To: (Qualifications)
- 1. Must possess a four-year college degree and be contracted by the KCPS Board of Education for the school year as a full or part time teacher or 1-3 years of coaching experience.
- 2. Knowledge of particular sport (philosophy & coaching)
- 3. Must successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
- 4. A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept and working knowledge of all collegiate eligibility center regulations.

- Employed as a teacher or administrator in the school in which the candidate applies for a coaching position.
