Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Our Bus Driver Safety & Training Office is looking for a CO-OP Student to assist with the design and development of Bus Operations training material. The CO-OP Student will work with internal stakeholders to provide support in the completion of required tasks and deliverables.
What will I be doing
- Support the development and distribution of informational and safety bulletins to Bus Operations positions.
- Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) reference guides job aids technical illustrations and digital media.
- Collaborate with various teams to gather information and learn how to turn complex processes and information into clear easy-to-follow documentation.
- Create detailed illustrations to accompany technical instructions for bus driver duties including pre-trip procedures equipment checks and layouts.
- Proficiency in filming and editing videos is considered an asset for this role.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Must be enrolled in a full-time accredited co-op program to be considered for this position.
- Must be at least 15 years of age before starting employment.
- Must be enrolled in Technical Writing Communications Instructional Design Education Graphic Design Digital Media or similar program at a post-secondary institution.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proactive and adaptable with a passion for producing well-designed documents.
- Familiarity with relevant software for document design layout and visual communication such as Microsoft Word PowerPoint Adobe FrameMaker and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to translate complex technical information into clear and concise visuals.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work with and assist other coworkers with various projects.
- Certain positions may require the wearing of protective footwear (i.e. safety boots or shoes) to be purchased at your cost.
