Job Description
Perform business process functions necessary for ensuring accuracy of financial transactions related to hourly and salary payroll costs. Applicant should be detail oriented with strong business acumen and experience in evaluating financial measurements and project results. Additionally the candidate should be comfortable exercising a high level of independent judgment in matters of a difficult and involved nature.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely and accurate financial transactions related to payroll accounting.
- Manage monthly close activities and present month-end results for management.
- Maintains accurate accruals for 3rd party contracts hourly and salary labor expenses.
- Ensure payroll is compliant with SOX controls globally.
- Prepare for and assist with internal SOX and external audits. Document processes ensure performance of key controls and obtain/provide support as necessary.
- Prepare the budget and follow up to identify risks and opportunities.
- Oversight of invoicing and managing 3rd party contracts.
- Maintain a cohesive work relationship between multiple 3rd party vendors.
- Utilizes data to identify improvement opportunities within the payroll space and reduce cost per payslip
- Networks and collaborates withcolleagues third parties and other GMdepartments to achieve desired business results.
- Keep up to date on technical aspects of accounting processes to identify and anticipate impacts on systems and processes.
- Proactively identifies process improvement opportunities and leads change.
- Provides internal and/or external financial analysis and decision support.
- Leads and/or assists with special projects and global initiatives as required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles controls and financial processes
- Mastery of data analytics and data mining to identify continuous improvement opportunities
- Ability to work under pressure and balance many projects at one time.
- Highly developed computer skills especially Microsoft Excel
- Ability to lead project teams and work independently.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem solving project management and process improvement skills.
Educational/Experience Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in business or accounting or related field required.
- Prior Payroll/Timekeeping and/or Labor Experience helpful but not required.
- Strong accounting background
- Experience with SAP ERP systems
- Demonstrated Project Management experience.
