DescriptionThe Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal services to the Corporation and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the Corporations lines of business and corporate staff areas. This structure encourages legal teams and businesses and staff areas to discuss legal regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.
This Legal Discovery Management AVP will own and/or support the Documentation & Controls program ensuring policyaligned documentation effective controls and transparent reporting in accordance with JPMCs risk and control framework.
Duties will include but will not be limited to: acting as liaison between LDM and its partners the review of end-to-end eDiscovery projects and programs with a focus on process improvement documentation and controls; managing various project details with multiple stakeholders; coordinating project milestones and deliverables; working directly with all staff levels from analysts to senior management providing strategic guidance and direction and delivering results on both long term and ad-hoc projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the documentation operating model (versioning approval workflow review cadence) to ensure clarity consistency and auditability
Conduct ongoing process reviews with a metrics-driven lens and produce concise narrative reporting for stakeholders
Advise and coach Document Owners/Approvers and designees to keep content current and compliant with firmwide templates policies and standards andmaintain an auditable history and access controls
Establish and continuously improve templates style guides quality checks and tracking (content completeness control alignment testability)
- Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in firmwide policy and standard governance requirements to ensure applicability and adherence
- Process mapping SOP designprocess improvements andcontrol points embedded in flows
Map processes and documentation to policies/standards; maintain a control library with defined control owners frequencies evidence requirements and review/test schedules
Lead or coordinate control self-assessments (RCSA) testing/monitoring sampling plans and evidence collection; document results and track remediation to closure
- Manage control issues with documented corrective actions and target dates
Report KRIs/KPIsand escalate risks promptly
Prepare for internal/external process reviews by assembling complete accurate evidence packages and control narratives; address findings with timely remediation
Apply data driven analysis to identify control gaps and process risks; prioritize improvements and define measurable outcomes
Qualifications
- General qualifications:
Bachelors degree required
PMP ACEDS Agile Legal Lean Six Sigma or other project management or process improvement certifications preferred
All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment
- Project Management Documentation and Controls Experience
- 4-6 years managing large cross-functional projects
- Experience managing projects in a controls audit compliance legal regulatory or similar environment
- Experience with legal compliance and/or operational processes and documents
Experience applying business analysis skills to projects and programs
Experience working in complex program execution
Experience working with geographically distributed and culturally diverse work-groups
eDiscovery and Technical Experience:
Proficiency with Microsoft Word Visio Lucid MS Project iManage Generative AI documentation and Content Management tools Confluence and SharePoint/SharePoint Online
Experience with emerging technologies and the latest digital tools including but not limited to Microsoft 365
Previous eDiscovery experience at a consulting firm discovery vendor or top tier law firm strongly preferred with cross EDRM hands-on and advisory experiences
Critical Skills:
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills in order to work collaboratively with specialists and process owners in the group as well as work with personnel from all areas of the business supporting the Legal Department including strategy administration risk compliance and project management
Ability to drive to big picture goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining a strong attention to detail
Proven ability to achieve quality results in rapidly changing environment requiring flexibility / adaptability to changeable directives
Ability to establish priorities manage resources and budgets and multiple simultaneous projects and workstreams
Superior verbal and written communication and presentation skills required to provide tailored status updates to audiences in a concise informative and timely manner across multiple businesses and support groups.
