The University and Employment Preparation Department (Faculty of Education and Social Work) at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a sessional faculty member to teach one section of PHYS 0500 in Summer 2026 (including laboratory sessions).
Physics 0500 is an advanced level ABE course. This course is suitable for students with little or no physics background. Physics 0500 examines the basic principles upon which the discipline of physics is doing so it provides students with a new perspective from which to view the world around them and with a solid content basis for future courses in physics should this be the objective. The course is oriented toward developing experimental and problem solving skills.
Masters degree in a relevant field (required)
At least one degree in science in a relevant field (required)
Teaching Certificate or Instructors Diploma or 5 years teaching experience (required)
Experience teaching students whose educational social and economic backgrounds are diverse and for whom previous school experience may have been challenging (required)
Demonstrated evidence of scholarly teaching (required)
Experience teaching in a laboratory setting (required)
Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in ABE science courses (preferred)
Skills in building intercultural understanding empathy and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) (preferred)
Experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) (preferred)
Teaching excellence including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) (preferred)
