Description:
The Department of Biological Sciences at Thompson Rivers University is made up of a diverse and collaborative group of faculty offering a . degree with majors in: Biology; Animal Biology; Ecology and Environmental Biology; Cellular Molecular and Microbial Biology; and in collaboration with the Department of Physical Sciences Chemical Biology. Cross-cutting themes include: the evolutionary frameworks guiding fundamental and applied ecology; responses of humans and diverse living communities to external stressors including cellular responses; the use of classical and modern statistical bioinformatic and genomic tools to interrogate hypotheses and develop solutions for environmental problems. Core to these themes is a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentorship collaboration within the Department and with colleagues across campus participation in undergraduate Honours and MSc programs and developing a positive environment where students are encouraged to grow as independent learners and critical thinkers.
We are currently seeking Ecologists to deliver ecology related instruction across 1st and 2nd year and coordinate laboratory field experiences. Candidates will be responsible for the following courses:
Summer:
Biology 2170 lab coordination (Introduction to Ecology) (1.5 credits).
Fall:
Biology 2170 Lecture (3 credits)
Biology 2170 Laboratory instruction (2 credits)
Biology 2170 Laboratory Teaching Assistant supervision (0.75 credits)
Biology 1040 Lecture (Biology of the Environment) (3 credits)
Biology 1040 Laboratory instruction and preparation (2.5 credits)
Roles and responsibilities:
- The instructors will lead these lecture and laboratory-based courses.
- They will coordinate the ecology field and on campus instruction in the Introduction to Ecology lab.
- They will supervise manage and evaluate teaching assistants in the ecology lab.
- The instructor will create administer and grade quizzes and examinations throughout the semester.
- Provide feedback in relation to finding students lab and lecture assignments.
- Grade and provide feedback on student written submissions throughout the semester.

Requirements
Candidates will have completed a PhD in Biology or a related discipline along with demonstrated teaching experience at the university level. Applicants with an . and demonstrated experience may also be considered.
