The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the Citys evolving criminal justice system participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed at moving the city towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. The DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff providers visitors volunteers and people in custody. Importantly safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7500 diverse professionals and knowledge experts.
The Senior Program Liaison serves as a strategic connector between programs leadership community partners stakeholders and internal departments. This role ensures effective communication coordination and implementation of program initiatives while supporting organizational goals and maintaining strong professional relationships. Specifically this position serves as the Departments Veteran Services Liaison leads DOCs civic engagement efforts and facilitates other key initiatives that support the individuals in our care.
-Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design and implement services for incarcerated Veterans
-Meet with incarcerated Veterans to identify their needs and connect them with appropriate services
-Facilitate monthly meetings with incarcerated Veterans
-Collaborate with DOC staff providers and advocates to promote civic engagement among individuals in our care
-Develop and implement strategies focused on voter education voter registration and civic engagement
-Facilitate voter registration drives in partnership with DOC staff and external partners
-Coordinate program activities meetings and collaborative initiatives
-Monitor program progress and ensure alignment with organizational objectives
-Enter participation data and prepare reports presentations and program updates for leadership
-Identify opportunities for program improvement and expansion
-Facilitate communication between departments to ensure smooth program operations
-Represent the organization at community events meetings and conferences
-Perform related duties as assigned

Qualifications :
1. For Assignment Level I (only physical biological and environmental sciences and public health) A masters degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological or environmental science or in public health.
To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above candidates must have:
1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
2. A masters degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least a masters degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in 2 above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in 1 and 2 above.
