The Financial Controller will be a key leader in the Finance team responsible for the full spectrum of financial management regulatory compliance corporate governance and strategic financial planning across the Singapore Malaysia and regional entities. The ideal candidate must possess strong technical accounting knowledge exceptional leadership skills and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced multi-entity environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of consolidated group financial statements and management reports in compliance with MFRS (Malaysia) SFRS (Singapore) IFRS and statutory requirements for both jurisdictions.
- Manage all financial and regulatory reporting processes including compliance with relevant listing requirements (e.g. Bursa Malaysia SGX) if applicable to the group structure.
- Lead the annual external audit process and act as the principal liaison with external auditors tax agents company secretaries and regulators in both Singapore and Malaysia.
- Treasury & Cash Flow Management:
- Manage treasury working capital and cash flow to ensure optimal liquidity and meet operational and capital expenditure needs across the regional operations.
- Develop and implement strategies for cash flow optimisation and cost control in a commodity-driven or complex project environment.
- Corporate Finance & Strategy:
- Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A) including budgeting forecasting and margin optimisation for both country entities.
- Develop and implement mitigation plans on audit findings to reduce financial reporting errors.
- Internal Controls & Governance:
- Review streamline and enforce the companys internal controls and financial policies across all entities in Singapore and Malaysia to minimise fraud and control operational costs.
- Strengthen corporate governance and ensure strong financial discipline in a regulated/PLC style environment.
- Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
- Lead mentor and develop a high-performing finance team managing direct reports and ensuring effective coordination between the Singapore and Malaysia finance functions.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Professional Qualification: Chartered Accountant (e.g. MIA ICAEW ACCA CPA) or equivalent.
- Experience: A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive finance experience with at least 3-5 years in a Financial Controller or senior leadership role preferably with exposure to cross-border or multi-jurisdictional finance operations.
- Industry Preference (Good to Have): Proven experience in the Construction Oil & Gas or Engineering sectors or related industrial/manufacturing services.
- Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of MFRS/SFRS/IFRS group consolidation internal controls and corporate taxation in both Singapore and Malaysia.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills high integrity and proven stakeholder management capabilities.
