Job Summary

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Deputy Officer in Charge on a 3-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 18.35 - 24.06 per hour

Summary:

An opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Officer in Charge to support the management of a Childrens Home in Cardiff working with vulnerable children and young people. The role involves assisting the Home Manager in delivering high-quality care ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting the development and wellbeing of young people staying in the home for short-term placements.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the management and daily operations of the Childrens Home.
  • Ensure young people receive a service that meets their social emotional educational cultural and wellbeing needs.
  • Promote independence and ensure young people have a voice in decisions about their lives and futures.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families professionals and the local community.
  • Support staff development and ensure professional standards are maintained within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People).
  • Relevant qualification suitable for registration with Social Care Wales.
  • Knowledge of the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and current childcare legislation.

Essentials:

  • Proven experience working at a senior level within a residential childcare setting.
  • Strong communication leadership and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities and child development.
  • Experience managing staff and supporting team development.
  • Ability to undertake assessments prepare reports and chair meetings.
