Senior Planning Officer

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in North Northamptonshire to assist with the appointment of a Senior Planning Officer on a 3-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 30.69 - 43.00 per hour

Summary:

This role sits within the Planning Policy function and involves leading and supporting a range of planning policy projects and workstreams. You will contribute to the development of evidence-based planning policies support consultation and engagement activities and assist in taking policies through to adoption and implementation.

Responsibilities:

• Lead or support planning policy projects and workstreams
• Undertake research to inform policy development and local plans
• Prepare planning policy documents guidance and evidence reports
• Support public consultation and stakeholder engagement activities
• Maintain monitoring systems and analyse planning data
• Provide policy advice on planning applications and corporate projects

Qualifications:

• Degree in Town Planning or related field (or equivalent)
• Eligible for Licentiate membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or equivalent

Essential Requirements:

• Experience in planning policy work or development management
• Understanding of the English Planning System
• Knowledge of planning legislation and policy frameworks
• Ability to interpret plans maps and architectural drawings
• Strong communication and report writing skills
