Purchasing Manager Head of Project Purchasing (NA)
As a Purchasing Manager Head of Project Purchasing reporting to the Head of Project Purchasing North America you will work as a business partner within project teams. Project buying ensures that external material costs are optimized to enable competitiveness in the market. Materials must be provided to the project on time and at the required quality standards. You will have responsibility for project purchasing related topics for HVAC BEV TMMs EK EGR ICAC BCP and Engine Mounted Components within the North America region.
Key Responsibilities
Define achieve and report Project Purchasing KPIs (e.g. project targets acquisition assurance and project commitments during the development phase).
Mentor and coach project buyers including personnel capacity planning and qualification development for team members located in Farmington Hills and Mexico.
Conduct annual performance reviews and establish annual goals and objectives.
Ensure project objectives related to timelines quality and target pricing are achieved.
Coordinate regional and global projects between different regions.
Provide feedback to regional commodity buying and lead buyers regarding supplier performance during the project phase.
Participate in and approve customer quotes related to project buying scope (MSP approval for material cost).
Support IPCO technical activities during project development and series production.
Ensure compliance with the Product Development Process (PDP) and related methods including:
Supplier panel / bidder list alignment
RFQ process in Jaggaer
Quotation analysis
TRM and feasibility reviews
Critical component list management
SDC and APQP / PPAP processes
Monitor compliance with existing purchasing policies procedures and documentation.
Establish and utilize standardized methodologies and tools across Engine Cooling and HVAC program purchasing.
Ensure effective interface between Project Buyers and Commodity Managers maintaining compliance with established commodity strategies and project targets.
Collaborate with Engineering Design Engineering Logistics and Foreign Trade teams to complete quotation processes and successfully launch development programs.
Support supplier quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
Ensure supplier nomination targets and KPIs per award are achieved.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications
Bachelors degree in a technical discipline or business.
7 years of experience in purchasing quality or manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of:
Quality and purchasing fundamentals
Mechanical refrigeration systems
Automotive heating and air conditioning systems
Engine cooling systems
Strong understanding of quality and statistical process control techniques.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes including:
Advanced communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with high accountability and resilience under pressure.
