Job Description:

Our client a global leader in controlled environments and safety technologies is seeking to appoint a Business Development Manager to promote and sell its products across the West African region. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing the company’s sales portfolio across West Africa building strong client relationships and driving new business opportunities within the region. A key aspect of the role involves extensive travel to client sites across the region ensuring strong engagement with customers and supporting the successful promotion commissioning and servicing of the client’s products.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively prospect and secure new business opportunities within the African market.
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with customers industry stakeholders regulatory bodies and mines departments.
  • Achieve and exceed budgeted sales targets within the assigned region.
  • Process new sales leads including preparing quotations submitting proposals and following up with potential clients.
  • Negotiate commercial terms with clients including payment terms freight arrangements and currency considerations.
  • Prepare and deliver tenders presentations and technical proposals to customers and stakeholders.
  • Provide excellent customer service and offer technical advice regarding company products and systems.
  • Develop and execute the regional strategic sales plan for West Africa.
  • Travel extensively across the region for mine visits product commissioning training sessions presentations industry events expos and trade days.
  • Ensure that equipment sold is commissioned and serviced according to company specifications.
  • Present regional sales results opportunities and pipeline updates to management during quarterly reviews.
  • Maintain accurate regional opportunity tracking through CRM databases.
  • Coordinate service activities and operator training programmes with customers.
  • Motivate train and mentor regional agents and distributors

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience selling plant and/or equipment into the mining construction or petrochemical industries.
  • Ability to present and engage with stakeholders at all organisational levels including senior management.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to communicate technical product information.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving sales targets and managing customer accounts.
  • Experience within the mining industry is highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new business opportunities and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively within the region.
  • Willingness to comply with vaccination requirements where applicable.
  • Ability to present at seminars conferences and corporate events.
  • Diploma or Degree qualification would be advantageous.
