This is a critical enterprise leadership role with a clear mandate to reposition Direct Lending as a meaningful growth engine across MyState Bank and Auswide Bank.

Direct Lending has not received the focus or investment it deserves and has historically played a secondary role to broker channels. This position exists to change that. You will be trusted to challenge the status quo modernise the direct channel and deliver material improvements in growth customer acquisition and long-term channel performance.

The Opportunity

As Head of Direct Lending you will shape the future of our direct-to-consumer home lending channel across MyState Bank and Auswide Bank.

This role is about chasing the better:

  • Re-establishing Direct Lending as a meaningful growth engine
  • Designing simpler faster and more human customer journeys
  • Leveraging digital data and AI enabled thinking to reach customers and communities we are not yet serving
  • Creating experiences that genuinely wow our customers not just meet expectations

You will lead a team of around 25 and work collaboratively across Marketing Digital Product Risk and Technology because at MyState we collaborate to win.

What You Will Be Accountable For

  • Set and execute a clear compelling strategy for Direct Lending aligned to our Lending and Customer ambitions
  • Grow volumes revenue and profitability in a way that is sustainable and responsible
  • Explore new lead generation and acquisition opportunities using digital data and emerging AI capabilities
  • Continuously improve conversion customer experience and NPS by simplifying processes and embracing smarter technology
  • Build a high performing customer centric culture where people are empowered and accountable
  • Lead with strong risk awareness regulatory discipline and care for customer outcomes
  • Contribute to the broader Lending strategy and help shape MyStates future direction

The Leader We Are Looking For

You are a strong lending leader and you are not done learning.

You bring:

  • Deep experience in home lending within banking or financial services
  • Proven people leadership and commercial accountability
  • A solid grasp of regulatory and credit risk requirements

And just as importantly you:

  • Chase the better. You are curious about what is next and brave enough to challenge the status quo
  • Are digitally savvy with a genuine interest in how AI data and automation can improve customer and business outcomes
  • Think beyond traditional channels and ask Who are we not serving yet and how could we
  • Care deeply about customer experience and doing the right thing
  • Thrive in ambiguity and can bring clarity energy and momentum to your teams

You do not need to be a technologist but you do need the mindset to lead in a changing world.
