Position Summary:

The Art Program at College of Western Idaho is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an adjunct faculty member in our new CTE Digital Photography program for Fall 2026 to teach lower-division courses in landscape and architectural and still life photography. Successful candidates have industry and teaching experience. The successful candidate may be asked to teach M-F during the day or evening or Saturday at any of the College of Western Idahos Canyon County Campus where the digital photography program is currently located.

Successful candidates are required to reside in Idaho by the first day of work for the College of Western Idaho.

Essential Functions:

Teach material from approved Digital Photography curriculum as assigned
Develop daily lesson plans and instructional materials using current digital tools and technologies
Employ student-centered teaching methods that reflect the diverse backgrounds and needs of CWI students
Utilize outcomes assessment measures
Participate in instructional evaluation processes
Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviations promptly and accurately communicated through the appropriate channels
Monitor and record student progress maintain accurate records and adhere to the College of Western Idahos deadlines for such procedures
Continuously improve course content delivery methods and assessment strategies based on student feedback and industry practices
Read understand agree and adhere to the Business Letter of Teaching Appointment and Faculty Expectations
Assess student outcomes and provide regular accurate and timely feedback to students
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed and assigned
Remain current with industry software trends and technologies (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite DSLR/mirrorless workflows

Minimum Qualifications:

3 years of full-time applicable work experience in digital photography.
Successful experience teaching at a community college or with adult learners preferred
Strong knowledge of digital camera systems photographic composition lighting and post-processing techniques
Technical proficiency in the operation instruction and troubleshooting of professional technical cameras including precise control of movements exposure systems and related equipment and effectively teach these competencies to students.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop Lightroom)
Experience with studio lighting portrait and/or commercial photography techniques
Possess or qualify for an Occupational Specialist Teaching Certificate from Idaho Career Technical Education preferred (see or contact for requirements.
Experience in studio/lab management. traditional black and white chemical processing and knowledge of the technological history of the medium is a plus.
Experience using instructional technology preferred

Additional Instructions For Applicants:

Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring managers discretion. All candidates must reside within or be willing to relocate to a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
