Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lean Manufacturing Intern to join our Silicon Carbide (SiC) manufacturing team for Summer 2026. The perfect candidate will support continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing site. This role will focus on analyzing production processes and assisting with the implementation of Lean principles to improve efficiency organization and productivity.

Key responsibilities include conducting process time studies and motion studies to identify inefficiencies supporting the implementation of 5S in production areas and helping document and standardize improved workflows. The intern will also assist in establishing a Lean Steering Committee framework including meeting structures metrics and reporting processes.

Working closely with operations and engineering teams the intern will help drive elements of the sites Lean roadmap contributing to projects that improve throughput reduce waste and strengthen operational discipline.

This role is ideal for a student pursuing Industrial Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Operations Management or a related field with an interest in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process time studies
  • Motion studies
  • Implementing 5S in production areas
  • Documenting improved workflows
  • Collaborating with shop floor workers technicians and engineers.
  • Expected to document progress with weekly reports as well as a final presentation at the end of the assignment.

Education & Experience

  • Education Level Required: Bachelors / Masters
  • Must have completed a minimum of 2 years of undergraduate study (rising junior or above) by the start of the internship
  • Majors: Industrial Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Operations Management
  • Relevant coursework or extracurricular experience in Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.
  • Open to currently enrolled students or those who have graduated within one year of the internship start date.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and time management.

Additional Information

  • Internship Duration: 10 14 weeks.

Working Conditions

  • This role will be based on-site in Easton PA
  • Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary.
  • Role requires wearing cleanroom garments and safety glasses.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or in meetings.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods while in the factory.
  • Use of hands and fingers for typing writing and handling documents.
  • Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
