Position Title:Social StudiesLong-Term Substitute
Qualifications:
- Must possess or be eligible for Connecticut State Department of Education certification that coversSocial Studies for grades 7-12.
- Degree from an accredited college or university.
Reports to:Building Principal and/or designee
Compensation:In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.
Period of Assignment: Starts onor about April 20 2026 through June 19 2026 (the last day of the 2025-26 SY)
Responsibilities:TheSocial Studies Long-Term Substitute has the followingresponsibilities as listed below and other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned by theBuilding Principal and/or designee:
- Prepare instructional resources and assessments that support the delivery of the Avon Public Schools curriculum particularly theSocial Studies discipline.
- Develop and implement lesson plans unit plans and educational projects to ensure students academic development.
- Provide differentiated instructional strategies and assessment and/or modify the curriculum to meet the learning needs of students with structured learning plans (IEPs and 504s)
- Provide support to all learners who require additional help or guidance with academic problems and concepts.
- Other responsibilities as defined by the building principal or designee.
