Position Title:Social StudiesLong-Term Substitute

Qualifications:

Must possess or be eligible for Connecticut State Department of Education certification that coversSocial Studies for grades 7-12.
Degree from an accredited college or university.

Reports to:Building Principal and/or designee

Compensation:In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.

Period of Assignment: Starts onor about April 20 2026 through June 19 2026 (the last day of the 2025-26 SY)

Responsibilities:TheSocial Studies Long-Term Substitute has the followingresponsibilities as listed below and other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned by theBuilding Principal and/or designee:

Prepare instructional resources and assessments that support the delivery of the Avon Public Schools curriculum particularly theSocial Studies discipline.
Develop and implement lesson plans unit plans and educational projects to ensure students academic development.
Provide differentiated instructional strategies and assessment and/or modify the curriculum to meet the learning needs of students with structured learning plans (IEPs and 504s)
Provide support to all learners who require additional help or guidance with academic problems and concepts.
Other responsibilities as defined by the building principal or designee.
