Position Overview
We are seeking a self-motivated EHS Specialist to join our Indianapolis team and provide invaluable support to our business site. This position offers an excellent opportunity to be a part of a strong SEF operation in a fast paced medical device manufacturing setting. You will get to collaborate with the SEF Manager and corporate Safety Environmental and Facilities team to ensure our site meets safety & environmental policies and regulations. You will participate as a technical resource of safety & environmental procedures for the site.
Quick Summary
The EHS Specialist will spend the majority of their time on the shop floor reviewing safety initiatives and helping employees address ergonomic will be the owner of our environmental responsibilities and ISO 14001 compliance. You will facilitate the behavior based safety program and safety improvement be successful you must be self-motivated possess good communication skills have a positive attitude and be able work independently but be a team improvement and personal growth should be a priority.
Basic Background Requirements
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook Excel Word Powerpoint etc.)
- Familiar with business and manufacturing processes
- The ability to work with all levels of the organization (Operators engineers leadership)
- Knowledge of forklift operations to be able to train employees
- Ability to continuously improve safety & environmental processes
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 environmental management system
- Knowledge of IDEM OSHA and EPA Regulations
- Knowledge of Indiana Workers Compensation
- Experience leading accidents/near miss investigations
Key Performance Objectives
Short Term: (0 to 3 months)
- Gain knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001 processes for auditing purposes
- Study our safety & environmental programs in order to facilitate training and compliance
- Develop reports to communicate where we stand with safety & environmental initiatives.
- Participate in communication meetings
- Learn and lead the recycling processes
- Complete First Aid CPR and EAD training certifications
- Complete safety & environmental weekly / monthly reports
Midterm: (3 to 6 months)
- To have attended a OSHA 30 hour course
- Gain more safety knowledge
- Complete the EMS auditing program
- Participate in ISO 14001 Registration audit
- Obtain RCRA certification
- Facilitate the new employee safety orientation
- Lead the Job Hazard Analysis Program PPE and LOTO programs
6 months to 12 months
- Participate in Continuous Improvement projects
- Attend Kimball International Safety Leadership Training
- Complete the Kimball International Sustainability Training
- To become knowledgeable in safety & environmental reporting processes
- Able and willing to cross train into other Safety/Environmental/Facilities positions which may have different technical or physical requirements.
- Continuous integration and test
- Participate as a team member in the 5S program
