Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technician (CST) with Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience to support surgical teams in a fast-paced hospital operating room environment. The Surgical Tech will assist surgeons and nurses during cardiovascular and general surgical procedures while maintaining sterile technique and ensuring proper surgical equipment preparation.
Schedule
Schedule: 5x8-hour shifts
Shift Time: Day shift (7:00 AM 3:30 PM or 9:00 AM 5:30 PM)
Hours Per Week: 40 hours guaranteed
Call Requirement: Extensive call required
Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekends
Holiday Requirement: Rotating holidays
Floating: May be required to float to General OR as needed
Key Responsibilities
Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments surgical equipment drapes and solutions
Maintain sterile field and adhere to AORN standards and infection control protocols
Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons during procedures
Assist with retractors sutures and surgical counts (sponges needles instruments)
Assemble and verify functionality of sterile and non-sterile surgical equipment
Handle surgical specimens and prepare them for laboratory processing
Assist with patient transport and positioning on the operating table
Apply surgical dressings and support patient transfer to recovery areas
Assist with operating room turnover and preparation for upcoming cases
Maintain specialty surgical instruments according to department protocols
Required Qualifications
Minimum Experience: 2 years of CVOR Surgical Technician experience
Certification: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) required
Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician / Operating Room Technician program
Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support) required
Must be able to float to General OR
Preferred Qualifications
Prior Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience in a hospital setting
