Job Summary

Job Title: Data Center Technician

Location: Goodyear AZ

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a Data Center Technician to support server infrastructure within large-scale data center environments. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in server hardware IT infrastructure and cabling management along with strong analytical ability attention to detail and a results-driven attitude.

The technician will also assist in creating documentation for technical and operational processes and contribute to knowledge base materials such as KB articles SOPs and lessons learned. This role requires collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders and the ability to help drive operational initiatives to completion.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare stage set up and perform data center hardware startups and shutdowns (e.g. racks hard drives switches) according to documented procedures and deployment standards.

  • Assist other technicians in completing complex or challenging tasks when needed.

  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures identify root causes of issues and replace faulty components with minimal disruption.

  • Conduct post-deployment quality checks to ensure proper grounding staging labeling and cabling according to safety and network design standards.

  • Decommission hardware and perform upgrades such as memory replacements and OS rebuilds following standard procedures.

  • Communicate report and escalate incidents appropriately to management when necessary.

  • Participate in safety briefings complete required safety training and comply with safety protocols including equipment handling and ladder use.

  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge and participating in team meetings.

  • Proactively share information to maintain workflow efficiency and minimize operational disruptions.

  • Complete assigned tickets efficiently while meeting or exceeding KPIs and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Maintain accountability for service quality task completion and overall data center operational standards.

  • Maintain a strong focus on operational impact when completing tasks and tickets.

Requirements
  • Strong server hardware knowledge with deep understanding of component and system failures.

  • Ability to assist with failure analysis of field issues.

  • Experience tracking server fleet health and identifying emerging failure trends.

  • Experience with IPMI diagnostics.

  • Experience administering software tools for diagnostics testing and firmware updates.

  • Experience supporting real-time issue resolution during hardware deployments.

  • Experience with Windows Server OS and WinPE administration.

  • Familiarity with Linux PXE services is a plus.

  • Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell Python or Bash).

  • Experience with virtual machine setup and environment configuration.

  • Ability to work independently and in geographically distributed teams.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience as a Data Center Technician.

  • Associate degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Information Technology or equivalent experience preferred.

  • CompTIA A or equivalent experience.

  • CompTIA Server or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Experience working with Windows operating systems.

  • MCP/MCSE certifications are a plus.

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds when necessary.

  • Ability to safely climb ladders and use personal protective equipment.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a data center environment.

  • Ability to perform repetitive movements and handle tools and equipment required for data center operations.
