The Lead Services Specialist (Commissioning) is responsible for the installation commissioning maintenance and troubleshooting for the full range of hardware and software products in the Controls Services Business portfolio. As well as external reporting: that may report to the customer the plant/utility owner the construction firm giving daily or weekly updates on job progress or as needed. Responsible for executing network system integration troubleshooting of plant systems and equipment organizing integrating and providing direction of resources such as labor tools and materials as required to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements. You may be assigned to other duties to help proactively drive our GE Gas Power Controls vision and align with our organizations core values.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Install and commission Control Solutions hardware and software in a wide variety of machine types encountered in the Oil & Gas Power Generation and other process industries
- Troubleshoot existing Control Solutions hardware and software installations on-site.
- Prepare field services jobs and interventions with the project managers
- Provide technical assistance to customers on site as needed
- Provide training to customer employees as needed
- Supervise mechanical and electrical sub-contractors and instrumentation de-installation / reinstallation
- Perform and Engineering Support and FAT Factory acceptance tests.
- Lead and execute loop check and commissioning phase performing the functional tests. SATs (Site Acceptance Tests)
- Lead and execute unit start-up and performance tests ensuring proper and safe operation of the machine by evaluating the running parameters and troubleshoot control system problems as they arise
- Maintain accurate timesheets and acquire customers signature on timesheets before leaving the job site
- Write accurate and detailed reports after completion of each job
- Maintain a working and operational knowledge of all GE Vernova Control Solutions & Services hardware and software.
- Assess and monitor site safety during job execution
- Communicate professionally with customers and other team members
- Understand T&C (Terms and Conditions) commitments
- Timely and accurately input hours expenses timesheets in internal systems
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited college or university or equivalent. 10 years experience in Automation & controls installation / commissioning / units Startup. Proven working experience in Oil & Gas and Power Plant industry field activities.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the installation commissioning and startup of power plant electrical equipment and controls MKVIe Migration and GE Legacy Controls.
- Qualified Network Integration Specialist for physical and virtualized HMIs network switches Level 2 certified OT Cyber Applications solutions (SecurityST OTArmor) ensuring compliance with GEV international and customer standards also with proven knowledge integrating protocols such as IEC 61850 OPC Profibus and Modbus
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel
- Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills hands-on approach
- Strong knowledge in rotating equipment control philosophy in Power Generation. HDGT (Heavy Duty Gas Turbines) & Aeroderivative Turbines Steam Turbines BOP (Balance of Plant). (Commissioning and Startup)
- Strong knowledge in field devices instruments and actuators (servo-valves thermo elements transmitters etc) & Industrial protocols IEC61850 Modbus OPC Profibus
- Led endtoend execution of Mark VIe DCS commissioning including architecture design configuration FAT/SAT and customer acceptance
- Ability to understand and implement technical drawings (wiring diagram P&ID General Arrangement etc).
- Ability to work under pressure
- Willing to travel within region 70% ATR and to work overtime
- Fluent English / Spanish / Portuguese
- Valid drivers license and passport (or able to obtain a passport).
- Strong computer skills using MS Office software
