TITLE: Evaluation Team Leader (ETL)/Team ChairSUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Student Services and Special Education the Evaluation Team Leader (ETL) or Team Chair serves as the Directors designee in supporting the administration and oversight of special education services within the school. The ETL facilitates the Individualized Education Program (IEP) Team process; monitors and supports compliance with federal and Massachusetts special education regulations including required timelines and procedural safeguards related to referrals evaluations and IEP development; and collaborates with administrators educators families and related service providers to support effective program implementation and service delivery for students with this role the ETL provides guidance to staff regarding special education procedures and IEP development and helps ensure that students with disabilities receive a free appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE).ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:IEP Team Facilitation and IEP DevelopmentChair and facilitate Initial Annual Re-evaluation and Manifestation Determination Team meetings in accordance with federal and state special education and schedule Team meetings including initial evaluations re-evaluations independent evaluation reviews and other required meetings within mandated that all required documentation and parent notifications are completed and provided within regulatory the development of high-quality Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) ensuring that present levels of performance goals services and accommodations are clearly documented and compliant with state and federal and monitor IEPs for accuracy completeness and regulatory that parents/guardians are informed of their procedural safeguards and support families in understanding their rights within the special education and Program OversightMonitor compliance with Massachusetts and federal special education regulations including timelines for evaluations Team meetings and service with monitoring the implementation of IEP services and supports for students with with building administrators and district leadership to address programmatic needs and ensure appropriate service in district efforts to prepare for and respond to state monitoring compliance reviews or and ConsultationProvide consultation and guidance to general education and special education staff regarding special education regulations IEP development accommodations and instructional with administrators department heads and instructional staff to support effective programming for students with families in understanding the special education process and support effective communication between school staff and parents/ effective working relationships with students families staff and outside Review and Student ProgressReview evaluation results assessment data and progress monitoring information to support informed decision-making during Team staff in interpreting evaluation results and determining appropriate educational supports and ResponsibilitiesAttend required district meetings professional development sessions and Evaluation Team Leader current knowledge of special education laws regulations and best other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services and Special QUALIFICATIONS:Education and ExperienceMasters degree in Special Education or a related Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) licensure in Special Education School Psychology or a related of three (3) years of experience working with students with disabilities in a public school facilitating Individualized Education Program (IEP) Team meetings and coordinating the special education process Skills and AbilitiesThorough knowledge of Massachusetts and federal special education laws and understanding of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process evaluation procedures and service delivery models for students with in administering interpreting and applying the results of educational and diagnostic assessments to inform Team decision-making and program to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with students families colleagues administrators and outside communication skills in English both orally and in to analyze information apply sound judgment and communicate options and solutions when addressing complex approach to working as part of a team and building consensus among diverse to remaining current in best practices research and federal and state laws related to special education and behavioral organizational and problem-solving skills including the ability to manage multiple timelines and to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and move throughout the school environment. The employee may occasionally need to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
