Job Description

At General Motors our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen but to be felt. Were turning todays impossible into tomorrows standard from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design intelligent software and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day our products move millions of peopleas we aim to makedriving safer smarter and more connected shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role
The Low Voltage Electrical Energy Management Systems Engineer helps define and optimize how lowvoltage (12 V & LV) electrical power is used in our this role you will blend systems engineering data analysis and testing to understand 12 V loads support energy and performance targets (range emissions robustness) and improve tools and methods used across multiple vehicle programs.
You will be a key technical contributor in a small focused team that uses virtual models standardized databases and measured data as primary decision tools. The work is highly interdisciplinary connecting electrical thermal controls and vehicle performance perspectives to deliver lowvoltage insights that guide content feature behavior and system sizing.

What Youll Do
12V Load Modeling & Analysis

  • Build and maintain lowvoltage load models and estimates for key driving and customeruse scenarios (oncycle and offcycle).
  • Develop and maintain 12 V load estimates and duty cycles for important vehicle use cases using schematics fuse/load charts databases and physical measurements.
  • Incorporate variation temperature effects and realistic worstcase usage into 12 V assessments so sizing and robustness decisions are grounded in realworld behavior.

  • Document models assumptions and intended usage so partners understand how to apply results and where the limits are.

OffCycle and OffPower Use Cases

  • Support offcycle and offpower scenarios (e.g. parked usage charging shortterm customer interactions postevent cases) by helping define realistic electrical usage patterns and constraints.
  • Translate customer and program needs into clear lowvoltage usecase definitions that support system sizing robustness and energy targets.

System Integration & Requirements

  • Contribute to requirements and verification plans for lowvoltage behavior and support execution of bench and vehicle tests that confirm those requirements.
  • Provide clear lowvoltage status and trends to partner teams so they can make informed decisions about features content and efficiency.
  • Act as a systemsengineering contact for 12 V Load Management helping connect feature behavior architecture and analysis into a coherent story.
  • Work with crossfunctional teams (energy thermal electrical infrastructure vehicle performance) to identify and close gaps in data handoffs ownership and responsibilities related to lowvoltage systems.

Data Tools and Automation

  • Help improve the data tools and workflows used to manage 12 V loads for example by automating recurring analyses or improving how results are stored and shared.
  • Use dataanalysis methods to gain insights from 12 V measurement and database data identifying trends issues and optimization opportunities.
  • Contribute to the evolution of central lowvoltage databases and reports so that information is accurate traceable and reusable across programs.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Mechanical Aerospace Computer Systems Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Experience working with vehicle electrical systems or similar lowvoltage powerdistribution problems.
  • Solid understanding of electrical fundamentals: loads fusing duty cycle basic sizing and how they relate to system robustness and customer usage.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical data (measurements databases or simulations) and translate it into clear actionable recommendations.
  • Strong problemsolving skills with examples of structuring ambiguous technical problems into concrete analysis and next steps.
  • Effective written and verbal communication including the ability to explain lowvoltage findings to partners who are not electrical specialists.
  • Comfortable working in a crossfunctional environment balancing inputs from multiple teams and managing competing priorities.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • While not required experience in the following areas will strengthen your candidacy:
  • Advanced degree (MS or greater) in Electrical Mechanical Systems or related Engineering.
  • Experience in vehicle energy range or emissions analysis especially related to accessory loads or electrical architecture.
  • Handson experience building or maintaining engineering databases dashboards or analytical workflows used as gold sources across teams.
  • Familiarity with systemsengineering practices such as requirements management DFMEA and verification & validation planning.
  • Experience using data and modeling tools such as:

  • Python MATLAB Power BI or DataBricks for analysis and visualization.
  • Physicsbased or circuitsimulation tools (e.g. COMSOL MATLAB/Simulink SABER PyBaMM or similar) to model electrical or electrothermal behavior.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve or automate existing analysis processes reducing manual effort while increasing transparency and repeatability.
