Job Summary

Employment Status: Full-Time Unpaid Hybrid DC-Metro Area Only


OVERVIEW:

Established by Congress in 1974 the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) is the countrys single largest funder of civil legal aid for low-income Americans. LSC currently funds independent legal aid offices nationwide. LSCs mission is to promote equal access to justice and provide grants for high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income Americans.

The Office of Training and Technical Assistance (OTTA) supports LSC grantees by delivering high-quality training programs technical assistance resources and capacity-building initiatives. OTTA works collaboratively across LSC offices to strengthen professional development improve service delivery and promote best practices in legal aid.

The internships are based in Washington DC and will require working from an office in DC in accordance with LSCs hybrid work model. The successful candidatesmust live in the DC metropolitan area for the duration of the internship.

Although this internship is unpaid heres what youll gain:

  • Increase and refine existing training and project management skills
  • Learn best practices in adult learning and instructional design
  • Strengthen time management while working on multiple time-sensitive projects
  • Develop effective professional attitudes and workplace behaviors
  • Gain exposure to large-scale training initiatives and national conference planning

The internship is expected to run from June through August 2026 with interns working between up to35 hours per week on a part-time basis.


WHAT YOULL LEARN & DO:

As an OTTA Intern you will gain a comprehensive understanding of training coordination content management and technical assistance support within a national nonprofit organization.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Compile organize and maintain training manuals scripts images formatting and related materials
  2. Support updates and content management for OTTAs Training Landing Page and related Drupal items
  3. Maintain and improve navigability of OTTA Box folders and shared resources
  4. Monitor and assist with responses to inquiries through the OTTA Helpdesk
  5. Assist with planning and preparation for major training events including Rural Summer Legal Corps Training Executive Director Training and other internal staff trainings
  6. Support large-scale projects such as the Learning Management System social media engagement efforts conference presentations and other priority initiatives
  7. Perform other duties as assigned


WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR:

The ideal applicant must be:

  • Organized and attentive to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong in research written and verbal communication
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
  • Committed to LSCs mission of promoting equal access to justice
  • Interest or background in training adult learning or instructional design preferred
  • Bonus: Experience with Drupal Canva Adobe Creative Cloud or social media content creation!
