JOB GOAL: The METCO Coordinator at Natick High School supports the academic success social-emotional well-being and overall school engagement of students from Boston enrolled in the METCO program.
The Coordinator works closely with students families teachers counselors and administrators to ensure METCO students are supported in navigating academic expectations accessing enrichment opportunities and developing a strong sense of belonging within the Natick High School community.
The METCO Coordinator reports to the Director of the METCO Program and collaborates with school leadership to implement district-wide METCO program priorities while supporting students on a day-to-day basis within the high school setting. |
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors Degree (required)
- Massachusetts educator licensure (teaching guidance adjustment counselor or related field) preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with high school students in an instructional or student support capacity
- Demonstrated success working with students of color and their families
- Knowledge of the history philosophy and purpose of the METCO program
- Experience supporting students with diverse academic social-emotional and cultural needs
- Experience collaborating with teachers counselors administrators and families
- Familiarity with high school academic expectations course selection and postsecondary planning
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students and families
- Experience with METCO or similar educational access programs preferred
- Bilingual skills (Spanish Portuguese or other languages spoken in the METCO community) highly desirable
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Support METCO students throughout the school day beginning with morning bus arrival (approximately 6:45 AM) and continuing through dismissal and late bus departure (approximately 3:15 PM).
- Build strong relationships with students by meeting individually to support academic progress goal-setting and overall school engagement.
- Monitor student progress through collaboration with teachers review of academic data and regular classroom check-ins.
- Serve as a key liaison between students families and school staff to ensure clear communication and coordinated support.
- Provide social-emotional support to students and connect them with appropriate school resources when needed.
- Collaborate with counselors administrators and support staff to promote student success and coordinate academic and enrichment opportunities.
- Support students in accessing tutoring extracurricular activities leadership opportunities and postsecondary planning.
- Assist with student transitions into and out of Natick High School and help maintain strong connections between the school families and the METCO program.
- Participate in faculty meetings professional development and regular meetings with the METCO Director to support program goals as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work of the METCO Coordinator is performed primarily in school buildings and occasionally at off-site locations. The physical demands listed below are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.
- Move throughout the school building including classrooms offices hallways and meeting spaces
- Remain stationary (sitting or standing) for extended periods during meetings or student conferences
- Operate computers printers copiers and other standard office technology
- Read and interpret information from computer screens student records handwritten notes and printed documents
- Communicate effectively with students families and staff in person via video conference by phone and in writing
- Occasionally lift or move materials weighing up to 25 pounds
- Observe student activity and respond appropriately in busy school environments
- Work in environments with moderate to loud noise levels
- Manage multiple tasks and respond to competing demands throughout the school day
