The On-site Safety Coordinator is responsible for driving a strong safety culture and ensuring full compliance with all health safety and environmental regulations at the site level.
This role provides hands-on leadership to operational team. The Site Safety Lead acts as the primary safety resource for the site partnering with operations leadership to reduce incidents improve compliance and enhance overall workplace safety performance.
The On-site Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in protecting employees maintaining regulatory compliance minimizing operational risk and supporting overall business performance by ensuring safety remains a core operational priority.
What You Will Do:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal provincial/state and local health and safety regulations.
- Monitor high-risk activities and ensure safe work practices are followed.
- Reinforce safe work practices through real-time intervention and positive recognition.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and audits of the facility.
- Conduct new employee safety orientations.
- Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment.
- Facilitate ongoing safety training (e.g. WHMIS PPE lockout/tagout confined space etc.)
- Conduct behavioral safety observations and deliver constructive feedback.
- Promote safety awareness and engagement programs.
- Provide daily field-based safety coaching to frontline employees and supervisors.
- Promote a proactive safety culture.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years of progressive experience working as an On-site Safety Coordinator
- Ability to influence and coach employees at all levels.
- Must be able to manage multiple & competing priorities and complete tasks on time in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work independently with attention to details.
- Strong knowledge of H&S regulations specifically OSHA requirements.
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Safety or related field (preferred).
- Relevant certifications considered an asset.
- Must be proficient with MS Word Excel and PowerPoint.
