Job Summary
The Technical Manager oversees the technical development process leading the department to ensure the highest standards of garment construction fit and manufacturing efficiency. This role is responsible for the technical integrity of the product from initial concept through to final delivery managing both internal teams and external supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Manage the technical team and workflow to meet the critical path and production deadlines.
- Fit & Grading: Lead the fit and grading process to ensure consistency and the brands signature aesthetic across all categories.
- Documentation: Oversee the creation of comprehensive Tech Packs and ensure the accuracy of all technical documentation.
- Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments on new designs to identify potential manufacturing or quality issues before bulk production.
- Supplier Liaison: Manage relationships with factories to ensure quality safety and ethical standards are met.
- Quality Analysis: Analyse returns data and quality reports to implement continuous improvements in the production cycle.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in a senior technical or technical management role within the fashion industry.
- Expert knowledge of garment construction pattern making and global sizing standards.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop a technical team.
- Advanced proficiency in PLM systems Microsoft Excel and the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strategic problem-solving skills and the ability to negotiate with global suppliers.
