Position Summary
Incumbents of positions in this series test repair install and/or maintain various types of electrical systems and equipment; troubleshoot electrical and related equipment; maintain adequate inventory of equipment and materials; inspect the work of outside contractors; and determine materials and/or equipment necessary for a job and on-the-job procedure changes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Notify supervisor of problems identified with the operation and maintenance of the district-wide electrical systems.
Performs preventative maintenance and corrective work order tasks on district wide electrical systems in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations or as instructed by the district 6 Chief Electrician and/or Supervising HV Electrician.
Test repair install and maintain various high voltage and other electrical systems for the safe operation of DOT facilities and assets including but not limited to Highways Bridges Buildings Tunnels Substations and Pump Stations.
Implement Electrical Lock-out and Tag-out for in-house electrical mechanical and communications groups as well as requested by contractors that are performing work requiring electrical lock-out
Perform activities to maintain normal and stand-by lighting systems for tunnel egress stair cross passage utility room ventilation building and facility buildings.
Support and maintain electrical for toll equipment in concert with the toll technicians and fast lane system contractor.
Perform repairs to district wide electrical systems issued throughout the Highway Operations Center Incident Tracking system in the form of a Corrective Work Order.
Perform 480V and 15KV high voltage switching and system grounding to create safe working conditions
Perform impedance testing on UPS battery systems to evaluate system integrity and identify maintenance issues
Perform cable pulling and cable repairs on all district wide electrical systems.
Perform district wide exterior roadway lighting repairs and replacements.
Perform district wide electrical system modifications and upgrades as required and directed.
Perform district wide monthly load tests on all standby generators.
Comply with all policies practices and safety procedures.
Perform maintenance and repairs on motor controllers AFCs etc.
Notify Highway Operations Center prior to performing any activities impacting the operation of roadways tunnels and facility systems.
Performs other related duties as required.
