RCPS Job Description Library/Media Educational Support ProfessionalPosition SummaryRutland City Public Schools is seeking an experienced energetic Library/Media Educational Support Professional to support students and staff across both learning communities. This position plays an important role in maintaining a welcoming organized and resource-rich library/media center that supports student learning research and collaboration. The successful candidate will work closely with the Library/Media Specialist to assist in delivering library media and information technology services that support the school-wide curriculum and help students build strong research information literacy and digital media skills. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with students supporting educators and helping manage a dynamic learning space where technology research and creativity intersect.
Responsibilities- Assist the Library/Media Specialist in providing library media and technology support to students and staff
- Help manage and maintain the library/media collection including circulation organization cataloging support and inventory
- Supervise the library/media center to ensure it remains a productive welcoming learning environment
- Assist students with locating materials conducting research and using digital tools and media resources
- Support teachers by identifying and providing instructional materials and media resources aligned with curriculum needs
- Help students develop information literacy research and digital learning skills
- Provide clerical and administrative support related to library operations and resources
- Assist with maintaining the physical learning space including organization lifting materials and light cleaning when necessary
- Support the integration and use of new media and emerging technologies in student learning
- Participate actively in school-wide initiatives that promote positive school culture and student well-being.
- Use basic computer or technology tools to support classroom documentation communication and program needs.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working in a library media center school setting or educational support role preferred.
- 1-year paraeducator experience or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and move throughout the facility as required to perform job duties
- Ability to sit bend stoop reach and perform repetitive motions related to teaching tasks
- Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to approximately 25 pounds
- Ability to communicate effectively with students staff and families in person and through various communication methods
- Ability to operate standard classroom and office equipment including computers and instructional technology
- Ability to maintain regular attendance
- Schedule and duties may vary based on assignment and school needs
