As a Grounds Supervisor you will lead and support the daily maintenance and beautification of our campus while working alongside a dedicated Facilities team. This is a working supervisor role ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on outdoor work leading a team and contributing to a mission-driven organization.
Perform and supervise full-spectrum grounds and landscaping work including mowing weeding pruning trimming mulching fertilizing and related tasks.
Maintain campus appearance through consistent landscaping and grounds upkeep.
Work outdoors in various weather conditions while supporting campus beautification and sustainability efforts.
Coordinate and direct the work of grounds team members to ensure consistent standards of quality safety and campus appearance.
Maintain accountability for assigned tasks and work orders.
Support staff training and development.
Conduct staff performance evaluations in accordance with Kendal at Lexington policies.
Foster a collaborative and respectful team environment.
Serve as the primary supervisor responsible for inclement weather response including snow or ice removal salting and flood preparation or mitigation.
Respond to weather events during normal work hours adjusted schedules and after-hours emergencies as coordinated by the Maintenance Manager.
Provide support in other Facilities areas including electrical plumbing carpentry locksmithing/security painting equipment and generator maintenance trash removal and recycling and safety inspections or compliance tasks.
Properly document work order receipt and completion.
Secure and store equipment when not in use.
Coordinate maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment.
Complete staff evaluations and incident accident and service reports.
Perform assigned preventative maintenance in a timely manner.
Purchase and deliver supplies parts and equipment as requested by the Maintenance Manager.
Assist with special projects and campus events.
Report unusual or suspicious conditions or behaviors.
Follow all safe work procedures including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Protect others by utilizing cones barricades reflective vests caution signs and detours when appropriate.
Be comfortable working with and supporting the senior population and maintain professionalism and respect for confidentiality while working in a senior living environment.
Perform other related work as required.
Valid Virginia Drivers License with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of grounds maintenance work and related equipment.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Associates Degree in Landscape or Turf Management or a related discipline preferred.
Ability to read and follow written instructions.
Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment power equipment and hand tools.
Ability to create and maintain detailed documentation.

Climb push pull and lift up to 125 pounds
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Work overtime and be on-call during weekdays and weekends as needed
