CTE Specialist (CTE & CCMR Support)

Primary Purpose:

To provide for the delivery of technical assistance training and staff development in the design and development implementation and evaluation of activities that address the unique needs of the Local Education Agencies (LEAs).

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

• Bachelors Degree required (upon hire)
• Masters Degree preferred
• Texas CTE certification preferred
• Texas Teacher Certification required

• CTE program leadership required
• Classroom teaching experience required
• Staff development experience preferred
• Demonstrated initiative to be of service to others
• Demonstrated ability to use strategies and business thinking and planning

Working Conditions:

• Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
• Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting and standing
• Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking repetitive hand motions frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching occasional driving
• Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds or more)
• Environment: Must be physically able to work inside; tolerate frequent districtwide travel and occasional statewide travel; regular exposure to noise
• Mental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion
• Regular Attendance is an essential function

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Leads LEAs in a comprehensive CTE program analysis.
2. Provides customized professional development deemed necessary and appropriate through analysis of the CTE program.
3. Collaborates and plans with the Lead CTE and CCMR Specialist to implement strategic goals for effective education and career planning.
4. Writes and facilitates the Perkins grant for the Region 16 ESC SSA member districts.
5. Collaborates across the ESC to provide cross-departmental professional development and technical assistance.
6. Maintains communication and networking among LEAs Workforce Development Boards Colleges Universities and other community organizations to improve student performance through CTE goals and objectives.
7. Leads and organizes Why Teach Middle School Career Fair High School College and Career Fair Lead for CTE portion of Curriculum Connect joint summer conference
8. Develops quadrant trainings for CTE professionals in collaboration with the ESC CTE Specialist.
9. Collaborate with TRPN lead to ensure all grant requirements are met
10. Collaborates with Lead CTE and CCMR Specialist to provide services related to CCMR.
11. Assists district leadership campus leadership counselors and CTE teachers in improving student performance.
12. Reinforces academic and career and technical education integration and provides leadership to district leadership campus leadership and CTE teachers to promote best practices and resources to guide the promotion of quality local programs.
13. Travels as a part of job responsibilities.
14. Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the director. A functioning cell phone means that it is charged activated messages checked and mailbox emptied regularly.
15. Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities.
16. Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region 16.
17. Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters.
18. Supports the mission goals and objectives of the ESC strategic plan.
19. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program.
20. Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies processes and procedures.
21. Manages time calendar and job responsibilities to meet deadlines.
22. Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor.
23. Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor.
24. Performs other duties as assigned.
