As a CASUAL Chef within the Pilgangoora Operations youll be supporting a reputable mining and minerals organisation in the Pilbara.

Youll support the on-site catering team delivering award winning meals that nourishes our Residents welcoming a home away from home for remote workers.

Located 140km south of Port Hedland this role goes beyond operations. Its about building care consistency and community on site.

Key Responsibilities

This CASUAL Chef is responsible for delivering a high standard of daily food and menu preparation cooking and serving for the Residents of the Village. This position is responsible for maintaining a high standard of food safety and hygiene regulations in accordance with HACCP addition to experience with recipe adaptation dish presentation and knowledge of various cooking techniques available in a FIFO kitchen environment is a must along with kitchen equipment maintenance and operation.

Duties include:

  • Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety practices in line with HACCP guidelines procedures and documentation
  • Production of high-quality nutritious and well-presented meals
  • Continuous menu design and implementation
  • Maintain food production equipment
  • Assist Head Chef and other departments if required

The incumbent is a key person to the Village Management Team and is involved in promoting positive staff morale and a safe work environment ensuring quality systems and supporting business and client focus within the PFM business and across the company.


About You

To join our Catering team you will be a qualified Chef with demonstrated experience and innovation in mass catering environments. You will possess strong knowledge of Hygiene and Food Safety Standards with cultural dietary requirements being an advantage. Additionally a commitment to the safety of yourself and others and a passion to provide quality products and service with a smile at all times.


You will possess:

  • Australian Working Rights
  • VALID Australian C Class Drivers License International Licenses and Learners are NOT accepted
  • Ability to pass comprehensive (Client) Pre-Employment Medical including Instant Drug and Alcohol Screening
  • Current satisfactory National Police Check (within 6 months)
  • Previous experience as a Head Chef in a mass catering environment including Minesite Village experience
  • Certificate III / IV Commercial Cookery or Hospitality (or equivalent qualification) (mandatory)
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certification
  • The following experience / qualifications with First Aid RSA / Approved Manager (desirable)

Additionally you will also possess the following skills:

  • Advanced Systems and Technology experience i.e. MS Office online/web-based Payroll & Training requirements
  • Demonstrate a professional approach in the workplace with excellent customer service skills
  • Have a strong commitment to the safety of yourself and others
  • Ability to manage a Team; providing hands on coaching and support where required
  • Ability to prioritise and adapt to changing work tasks in a fast-paced environment
