We are seeking a highly motivated Protein Scientist with a strong interest in molecular biology protein engineering and innovative technologies to join the Protein and Cell Sciences to be based at our client site in Stevenage UK.
You will join a team that plays a central role in the design production and validation of highquality biological reagents that enable drug discovery across a range of therapeutic modalities. This is a fully labbased role focused on molecular biology protein expression and purification workflows. The successful candidate will be an organised proactive experimental scientist with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design and perform molecular cloning across diverse expression systems using contemporary cloning methods.
Isolate and purify plasmid DNA using both manual and automated approaches.
Analyse Sanger and NGS sequencing data to verify construct integrity.
Provide scaledup plasmid DNA to support departmental needs.
Express and purify protein reagents for a variety of downstream applications.
Maintain accurate detailed experimental records in laboratory notebooks and data systems.
Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to optimisation of existing protocols to improve workflow efficiency and accelerate delivery timelines.
Work effectively both independently and as part of multidisciplinary matrix teams.
Essential Skills & Experience
Degree in Life Sciences (or equivalent) with 1 years of laboratory experience ideally within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector.
Demonstrated experience in molecular biology including PCR and primer design cloning methodologies DNA purification agarose gel electrophoresis
Good understanding of mammalian expression systems and protein purification techniques.
Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage workload and meet agreed timelines.
Proven flexibility collaborative mindset and strong teamwork abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Exemplary recordkeeping and attention to detail.
Desirable Skills
Experience with molecular biology design and analysis software tools.
Additional experience with Sanger and NGS data analysis.
Handson experience with laboratory automation and mediumhighthroughput workflows.
Familiarity with aseptic technique.
Experience using ÄKTA purification systems.
